Thursdays 2008 - Pierian Centre

Spirit of the Drum

Dates: April 10th, 17th, 24th, May 1st, 8th, 15th. 7pm - 9pm

This six week programme, aimed primarily at beginners, will provide you with enough basic playing instructions for hand drums and percussion to allow you to explore, and unlock your creativity and rhythmical spirit. We will be improvising and bringing our own rhythms together to have a shared experience of making 'music-in-the-moment'.

We will also be using the drum to relax and de-stress by working towards a ‘mindful drumming’ meditation where we will be playing slow rhythms for long periods of time to allow our minds and bodies to relax and feel the spirit of the drum.

Please note that this is not a traditional drum class, we will not be learning or playing any culturally specific rhythms or songs.

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd September 2007 - B.M.V.-Schule, Essen, Germany

Drum circles throughout both days for up to 100 people at a time at this school's summer celebration in Essen, Germany.

Saturday 18th August 2007- Bristol Urban Beach

2:00pm - 3:30pm. Come and join us for some drumming during Africa day on the beach.

Saturday 11th August & Sunday 12th August 2007- Bristol Balloon Fiesta

Lots of fantastic thing to see and do, including loads of drumming in the 'Heaven' area of the site.

Friday 3rd August 2007 - Bristol Urban Beach

5pm - 8pm. Come and join us for some more drumming on the beach.

Tuesday 31st July 2007 - Bristol Urban Beach

3pm - 5pm. Come and join us for some drumming on the beach.

Sunday 22nd July 2007 - Knowle Cricket Club, Broadwalk, Bristol

Charity event in aid of Ward 29, Bristol Royal Infirmary. Lots of fun things to do and see. Events start at 2pm. We will be offering drum circles throughout the afternoon.

Sunday 8th July 2007 - Keynsham Music Festival

Two circles 1:30pm - 2pm (children and adults) & 2:30 - 3:00pm (adults only).

Sunday 17th June 2007 - Southampton Kite Festival

Drum circles throughout the day, just come and join in. 11am - 5pm.

We will soon be running our regular community drum circles again.
